80,000 SF Nucor pre-engineered building with an attached 5,000 SF office.  Two 100 foot by 400 foot bays each with a 25 ton and a 35 ton overhead crane.

Slitter Information

72" wide by 60,000# by up to .135" thick Braner Slitter with an "Accutrac" belt bridle tension stand, Machine Concepts Gen III Precision Shape Correction Leveler with a displacement type AutoFlat system.

Packaging Line

Samuel Strapping 2-head automatic packaging line with pick and place downlayer, 1 1/4" and 3/4" banding heads, automatic stacker and a 6-place carrousel.

Magic Steel Sales LLC has announced plans to expand its steel service center business with a green field site addition in Nucor Steel’s industrial park, Decatur, Alabama.  The 80,000 square foot facility, scheduled to open in second quarter 2009, will include slitting and advanced shape control and will allow the company to focus on exposed cold rolled and coated business in the southern United States. 

In business since 1974, Magic Steel operates its flagship service center in Grand Rapids Michigan, and shares a joint venture, Magic Coil products, in Butler Indiana.  The company believes that the combination of these three sites provides it the opportunity to uniquely meet its customers multi site flat rolled steel needs.

As the first company to build in Nucor’s Supplier Park Magic Steel will compliment the existing steel landscape bringing expertise in the area of exposed, light gauge and flatness critical applications.   The opening of the facility is intended to coordinate closely with the start up of Nucor’s new galvanizing line directly adjacent to the park.
